What does MIX'N'VAPE mean?

fiole mix n vape avec son boosterFor some time now, all electronic cigarette stores have been selling large bottles of e-liquid which contains no nicotine. These bottles can be used to create "Mix'n'Vape", a method of combining one or more nicotine boosters with a nicotine-free e-liquid to obtain a large quantity of liquid.

Mix'n'Vape isn't difficult, but there are a few subtleties to consider. Let's take a look at the main distinctions between this approach and DIY.

The arrival of the European directive on tobacco products

On January 1, 2017, the second phase of the TPD (European Tobacco Products Directive) came into force, radically transforming the habits of many vapers. One of the changes is the ban on the sale of bottles containing more than 10ml of nicotine-containing liquid.

All vapoteurs who used to buy their liquid in large quantities (30 ml bottles, for example) have had to accept to go back to 10 ml bottles.

Following this announcement, e-liquid manufacturers came up with the idea of Mix'n'Vape to enable consumers to return to their old large-format bottles, often between 50 and 60 ml in volume, and to comply with current legislation.

Nicotine boosters

Nicotine boosters have arrived. These are bottles of a 10ml neutral base with 20mg/ml nicotine, the highest dosage authorized by the TPD. The aim of these nicotine boosters: to be mixed in a 0mg/ml neutral base to give a base with the desired amount of nicotine.

Preparing for Mix'n'vape

The most common Mix'N'Vape bottle is a 60 mL bottle containing 50 mL of e-liquid overdosed with flavorings. To obtain a 60-mL dose of 3 mg/mL nicotine, you'll need a booster. The booster's PG / VG ratio should be the same as that of your Mix'N'Vape.

The popularity of this format is undeniable, with virtually all manufacturers adopting it. The 2017 tobacco legislation has undoubtedly had something to do with it. This format contains no nicotine, which means that new items can be released quickly and at lower cost.

For vapoteurs, finding large bottles is a godsend. It's impractical to regularly collect 10 ml bottles of e-liquid.

However, there are a few things to bear in mind

There is no fixed formula for Mix'N'Vape. Therefore, it's essential to examine the contents of the pack. Some offer larger bottles, while others provide boosters; each has its own distinct style. Now that this model is extremely popular, it's worth examining the pack before purchase.

Mix'N'Vape products are available in a variety of packaging. Product cost may vary according to packaging. It's easiest to compare prices per mL of nicotine.

Mix'N'Vape comes in a variety of forms

Let's take a look at the most popular types of Mix'nVape, as there are many varieties to choose from.

Full tanks

Some manufacturers simply sell you a bottle of e-liquid overdosed with flavorings, with unscrewable or removable pourers for inserting one or more boosters.

Most French and European brands have launched into this format, and the choice is extremely vast. At LiquidBox, for example, we're not far from a thousand flavors for over a hundred partner manufacturers! To give you an idea of the mix :

  • 50 ml of overdosed liquid + 1 booster will give you 60 ml at 3 mg nicotine
  • 50 ml overdosed liquid + 2 boosters will give you 70 ml at 5.2 mg nicotine
  • 22ml of overdosed liquid + 1 booster of 5ml offered by us at 3mg of nicotine
  • 22ml overdosed liquid + 1 booster of 10ml for 6mg nicotine
  • Finally with 22ml of overdosed liquid + 2 boosters of 10ml for 9mg nicotine

Mix'N'Vape products from our partners (Belgi Ohm, Knocks, Fantastic, La Fabrique Francaise ...) come in 50ml or 22ml bottles, with a space inside the vial to insert boosters.

50 ml in 60 ml vials

This is the most common Mix'N'Vape. To achieve a nicotine dosage of 3.3 mg/mL, you can add a 20 mg/mL booster to a bottle that is not completely full. The booster is not included.

It also eliminates the need for an extra empty bottle, since all the ingredients will be combined in a single bottle. Most manufacturers supply 60 ml bottles with 50 ml of product slightly overdosed in flavors. This solution is mainly consumed by 3 mg/ml vapers.

Many manufacturers offer larger bottles. For example, e-liquid manufacturer Chubbiz offers bottles that can hold 2 boosters, as does Liquideo. Boosters are not supplied in conventional retail outlets, but they are always supplied by LiquidBox. It will be possible to obtain a higher dose of nicotine. The flavour will be somewhat diluted by the amount of boosters you add. This is, of course, proportional to the quantity of boosters used.

The 100ml 'Mix'N'Vape also exist (we regularly offer them in XL Boxes) and come with a 120ml bottle containing 100ml of liquid overdosed in flavour and accompanied by 2 boosters for 3mg.

Mix'N'Vape: Complete kits

These are the most basic kits, with nicotine levels ranging from three to six milligrams per milliliter. All you have to do is combine everything in the box.

E-liquide France has the creativity to supply e-liquids with high amounts of nicotine (18 mg / ml) rather than traditional boosters. The taste will be identical at 3 mg / ml or 6 mg /ml.

Mix'N'Vape: Individual kits

As there are no rules, each manufacturer can produce its own recipe.

For example, Chubbiz offers bottles filled with 40 mL of e-liquid, to be boosted with 20 mL of your choice of nicotine. The 40 mL bottles have a taste overdose which is very accurate according to the community.

Finally, we have the "Mini Mix'N'Vape". This is now reflected in our 22ml Mix'n'Vape ranges (22ml of product for a final 30ml once boosted). We're working with our partners to make this format more widespread, and we offer it in a number of brands, often exclusively (La Bonne Vape or La Fabrique Francaise offer us this format).

Is Mix'N'Vape a good alternative?

Mix'n'Vape is a legal alternative to TPD restrictions. A truly practical option for sub-ohm vapes enthusiasts who despise 10 ml packs in every way.

When vaping at more than 6 mg nicotine, dosing becomes a problem. In this case, it is necessary to prepare the mixture in a larger container.

This alternative is not only designed for subohm enthusiasts, but can also be appreciated by vapers using a traditional e cig.

Our conclusion on Mix'N'Vape

For people who like 0 mg/ml dosages, these kits are a fantastic alternative, because by combining a little 0 mg/ml base (10 or 20 ml), you can make excellent e-liquids at a low price.

Mix'n'Vape e-liquids, on the other hand, are not suitable for use by smokers who consume a lot of nicotine.

It's essential that you keep an eye on the contents of these Mix'N'Vape kits to see if you need to buy boosters or a larger bottle for your preparation.

There are few, if any, drawbacks. This is fantastic news for smokers who want high-quality e-liquid at an affordable price. Many well-known manufacturers have taken the plunge (Halo, Vampire Vape, Green Vape, etc.).

It also enables producers of Mix'N'Vape e-liquids to market their success, while being very practical for fans of these e-liquids who were frustrated by the limitations imposed by the PDT. As a result, Tribeca, Heisenberg and Pinkman can now be produced in significant quantities.

Mix'nVape e-liquids are now on the market, and available to everyone. It used to be a niche market, but it's fast becoming a European one. The flavors of Mix'nVape e-liquids are now clearly part of the panel offered to vapoteurs, and everyone should be able to find what they're looking for.

It's crucial to let e-liquids mature for a few days after blending. It's not as long as a pure DIY e-liquid, but it makes a small difference.
